April 30, 2015:  NMSB sponsored a table at the Austin Bar's annual Law Day celebration, commemorating the ways in which the practice of law help us maintain our freedoms. Funds from the event are also used to recognize lawyers and non-lawyers in the community who have made significant contributions in the past year or more.

December 15, 2015:  Our annual People's Community Clinic fundraiser was a great success.  We've raised more than ever before: $5,395.  Many thanks to our wonderful donors.  NEMSB will match the donations and another anonymous donor will match again, so all dollars donated will go to PCC tripled! 


November 12, 2014:  NEMSB has again been recognized as a Tier 1 Family Law firm in Austin by Best Lawyers.  We are proud of the honor.

October 27, 2014: The Domestic Relations Office has asked Keith Maples to speak from the attorney's perspective about ethical issues that Guardians ad Litem should be aware of. He will be with the group this Wednesday, October 29th.

September 29,2014:    Partner Keith Maples continues to work with the Imagine A Way Foundation, which sponsors therapy for families of autistic children. Keith's personal experience with his own autistic son lead to his realization of the importance of early therapy interventions, which are both costly and frequently are not covered by health insurance. Imagine a Way sponsors families and works in partnership with therapy providers to reduce the cost of these expensive but critical services.

August 25, 2014:     From October 1-3, 2014, NEMSB Paralegal, Misti Janes, TBLS-BCP, is chairing the 2014 Texas Advance Paralegal Seminar (TAPS). TAPS is a 3-day multi-track seminar for paralegals. This year’s TAPS is being held in Austin, Texas at the DoubleTree Hotel. The theme is The Beat Goes On and will have a performance by The Bar & Grill Singers. TAPS provides up to 14 hours of CLE to paralegals from across the state. Misti is the 2013-2014 President of the Paralegal Division of the State Bar of Texas.

May 26, 2014:  The 2014 Austin Young Lawyers Association/Austin Bar Association Leadership Academy is co-hosting the “Seeds of Hope” event. Associate Hillery Kaplan is a member of the Academy and NEMSB Law is a silver sponsor of the event. This joint project with the Texas Advocacy Project and SafePlace supports survivors of domestic violence and celebrates their resilience. The event will consist of a Resource Fair providing legal advice and self-care services to survivors of domestic violence, as well as a balloon release with messages of hope from survivors. ”Seeds of Hope” will occur on June 7, 2014 from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Mayor’s Terrace at City Hall. The project is accepting donations via it’s giving-portal on the Austin Bar Foundation website.


May 19, 2014: Audrey Blair, Partner, will be speaking at the Office of the Attorney General of Texas on May 21st.  She will be educating attorneys on the basics of Family Law.


May 12, 2014:  The Austin Chapter of the Association of Legal Administrators recently volunteered at the local office of Dress for Success. Dress for Success helps economically disadvantaged women with career development by providing business clothing and assistance preparing for job interviews. NEMSB Office Administrator Christine Giles and other ALA members worked at the Dress for Success storefront, sorting and stocking clothing and assisting program participants with selecting outfits. April 28, 2014:  For five years, Associate Sam Colletti has been working with the Young Men’s Business League to raise funds for Sunshine Camps. The camps are provided free of charge to Austin youth leaving near or below the poverty line.  Learn more about the Camps and see some of the kids who have benefited by watching this moving video.  You can assist this valuable effort by donating to the camps.

November 11, 2013:  American Association of Matrimonial Lawyers Fellow and NEMSB Law Partner Keith Maples recently attended the AAML’s 2013 Annual Meeting. This three day event featured educational sessions on many valuable topics pertaining to family, including discussions on techniques for working with children in a fair and compassionate manner, how family lawyers can fight enforced marriage, the ongoing changes in how the law treats same sex relationships, alimony and co-habitation agreements.

October 28, 2013: The American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers has invited Partner Keith Maples to join their “Impact of Special Needs Children” Committee. September 9, 2013: Partner Judith Bryant has an article “The Wedding Planner: What you need to know about prenuptial agreements before you tie the knot” in the September, 2013 Texas Bar Journal. Ms. Bryant has extensive experience with prenuptial and postnuptial agreements as well as divorce and custody matters.


September 3, 2013:  Associate Nikki Hudman is participating as a volunteer mediator for Williamson County’s Settlement Week September 3 – 6, 2013. Texas law mandates several settlement weeks be held yearly to help clear the courts of smaller cases. Volunteer attorneys donate their time and expertise to the court and the community. Fees paid by the litigants are donated to the county bar association and used for the further benefit of the community.


June 24, 2013: Noelke English Maples St Leger Blair recently supported the Austin Bar Association’s Law Day celebrations both through sponsorship and participation in the event. In honor of the 150th anniversary of the issuance of the Emancipation Proclamation, the theme this year was "Realizing The Dream: Equality For All." Members of our firm enjoyed a speech by Gary Bledsoe recapping some historical perspective on race and the law in the United States and reviewing some cases pending before the Supreme Court that could have great bearing on future equality issues. In his role as board member of Volunteer Legal Services, Partner Keith Maples presented several awards to attorneys who have performed great service in the community.


May 24, 2013: The Texas Bar Journal has printed an article "Children's Involvement in Divorce" by Partner Lea Noelke.  Mr. Noelke offers some suggestions to help parents minimize the adverse effects of their divorce on the children involved.


May 17,2013: The Young Men’s Business League of Austin (YMBL) is celebrating its centennial in 2013. NEMSB’s Associate Attorney Sam Colletti and other YMBL members recently met with Representative Donna Howard on the floor of the Texas House of Representatives. Rep. Howard presented a resolution recognizing YMBL’s centennial and highlighting the impactful work of YMBL members through the Austin Sunshine Camps (ASC). Through ASC, the YMBL members mentor and support local underprivileged children with free summer camps and free year-round tutoring. March 11, 2013:  We are happy to welcome Hillery Kaplan as an Associate Attorney with NEMSB. Hillery provided outstanding work as a contract attorney for our firm beginning last year and she has agreed to join our team. September 30, 2012:  Partner Keith Maples nominated as 'Prom King'.  As part of their fundraising for Texas RioGrande Legal Aid, the Austin Bar/Austin Young Lawyers Association Leadership Academy nominated a number of male and female attorneys, respectively, for 'Prom King' and 'Prom Queen'. The winning King and Queen were named based on fundraising results for each nominee at their fall gala on September 22, 2012 at City Hall. Our own Partner, Keith Maples was one of the nominees, raising $2,250 toward the cause, and the firm also contributed $1,000.  More information is available here.

April 30, 2012: Volunteer Legal Services of Austin has announced that Noelke English Maples St. Leger Blair will be honored with the 2012 Joseph H. Hart Award. The Joseph H. Hart Award is presented annually to a law firm that has demonstrated the integrity and dedication to legal services to the poor exemplified by Mr. Hart throughout his legal and judicial career.

March 5, 2012 - Andrea (Andi) St. Leger, Partner, has been elected President of the Travis County Family Law Advocates, an association made up of the Board Certified Family Law Practitioners in private practice in Travis County.

The organization is intended to improve the practice of family law by working with the bench, educating members and other family law practitioners, and working with other professionals providing services to persons involved in family law disputes in the community. Andi joins Partner Keith Maples, who serves as Treasurer.

February 28, 2012 - Partner Keith Maples competed in the Livestrong Austin Marathon and finished 3:24:32, qualifying for the Boston Marathon in his age group. 

February 20, 2012 - Associate Sam Colletti’s article about mistaken paternity, “Changes in Texas Paternity Laws”, has been published in ATX Man magazine’s Fall 2011 issue.

February 10, 2012 - Parter Lea Noelke will speak on "Case Law and Analysis of Buy Sell Agreements" on February 16, 2012, at the Austin Bar Association Business Section luncheon.  Mr. Noelke specializes in divorce cases involving complex property issues.
